Interiors: Outdoor living in summer

Tomorrow, I'm going to view a house with some very unusual attributes. Not for me, unfortunately, I'll be a hanger-on with my parents who are looking to find a new home. This house is built in a rather stark style that isn't to everyone's taste. However, its biggest asset is the incredible view.

Built on the hill just outside the city, it looks out across Bristol and enjoys the most amazing communal gardens - acres and acres. At this time of year, with every tree and plant competing for best in show on Instagram, there is no finer time to imagine a life where inside and outside merge.

It's a three-storey house with bifold doors on each floor, opening up the house, creating light and space while giving access to gardens and terraces overlooking that glorious greenery.

Here's what I'd do with a house like that. First, I'd re-do the kitchen. Big, open-plan space. Central island. Industrial lighting. Tiling done on an angle (I love that idea).

Then, I'd focus on the outdoor living ideas from my Pinterest board - specifically, a large outdoor lounging area stuffed with pillows and blankets. The perfect place to relax and read in the sunshine. (Go follow Allison Sadler on Instagram for sneaky peeks of her beautiful outdoor space.)

So, tomorrow's activities will involve viewing this incredible house and proceeding directly to the nearest newsagent to buy a lottery ticket or two. Just imagine!
