That there weekend just gone was a good 'un. Sunday, we decamped to the garden, playing games, burning food on the barbecue, splashing in an impromptu paddling pool and generally larking about. And we welcomed our really fantastic new hammock to the garden! Not to make you too jealous or anything...
There was a very closely fought boules match on the huge lawn at the back of the house. The usual scootering/skateboarding/biking race track around the paths and the garages. Plus a whole lot of screeching and hollering at the outcome of a tin can alley game.
The plants we put in a few weeks back are beginning to get going, with the first poppy heads emerging and a few rosebuds as well. This time next week I reckon we'll have the first of the blooms.
But the thing I love most of all about the garden is my enormous cream crochet hammock. A tip: if you come round and can't find me anywhere but know I haven't gone out, look in the hammock. It's my favourite place to
The kids love it too - it's a double hammock so should be able to accommodate multiple occupants, but we're really testing its patience with three, sometimes four of us tentatively swinging to and fro, bums touching the floor.
Sunday's activity saw all possible permutations and combinations of occupants, hurtling in and out all afternoon long. I wish I had a time lapse film of that hammock, it's the heart of the garden now.
